Visiting Hobor

Three members of the association recently visited the school in Ghana. School supplies, books... many items had been donated beforehand and some were purchased – we took as much as we could fit in our suitcases. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the donors; the children were delighted! A very special thank you goes to the students of our German partner school, KGS Hemmingen, who diligently donated school supplies that were in good condition but no longer needed. Another thank you goes to Avacon Connect for donating 100 pens and pencils each.
It was a great experience to be able to talk directly with all the teachers and children at the school!

Project presentation at the KGS

In June, Lucia, Alina, and Hannah presented the association and the school in Hobor to the 9th-grade classes at our partner school, KGS Hemmingen. They showed numerous pictures and videos to gain the most authentic impression possible. We also FaceTimed with Eric Anthony in Ghana, the project manager of the Ghanaian association. He answered the students' questions and shared his perspective.

March 25

Visiting Hobor

In March, Hannah Janßen, chairwoman of the Zusammen für Ghana Association, visited the entire school in Ghana. It was really great to meet the teachers and students and see the progress they have made! We played lots of games and got creative. We also discussed and planned a number of things with the chairpersons of the Ghanaian NGO. It was an incredibly wonderful time!

Construction of the second floor

The second floor is under construction and almost complete. All that is missing is paint, windows, and doors. Next, a small bridge will be built behind the property, as a river forms there during the rainy season, forcing the children to take long detours. The bridge will finally put an end to this problem.

In Ghana, Antonio and Eric were able to purchase a van and a smaller car thanks to the support of the Werner Erkes Foundation. These vehicles serve the school and are now used to transport materials and for other school-related purposes. As the school is located in a rural area, this new flexibility was greatly appreciated! We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Werner Erkes Foundation!

We would also like to thank you for your support throughout the past year! It is only because of this that so much has been able to happen this year! We look forward to 2024 and wish you a happy new year!

We are very happy to announce that our Ghanaian partner association "Kinder Zentrum International" could finish the three classrooms in Hobor.

We are super grateful to have now completed the intensive phase of construction. We have achieved a great goal!!!

However, there is still a lot to do before classes begin. Among other things, sanitary facilities will be built in the coming weeks and months, which are absolutely necessary for the school to operate. Just before school opens, the school building will be painted.

Thank you very much for any support that makes it possible to turn the school construction into reality.

Every year, the Boy Scouts of the DPSG Eningen look for a non-profit organization for which they collect donations throughout the year. We are happy that the scouts of the DPSG Eningen approached us this year!

At an Easter egg sale 1500€ have been collected so far, which will be used for the construction of the sanitary facilities. More projects will follow soon. We say thank you!

If you know of similar projects or events where donations are collected, we would be happy if you draw attention to our association!

Project Manager Eric Anthony

We are very happy to announce that Eric Anthony is now officially a permanent part of our project!

As project manager in Ghana, he is responsible for the implementation of the project together with Antonio Freeman. He too advocates investing in education to sustainably improve people's living situations and previously worked in other non-profit organizations. Through his experience and assessments, the processes of building the school can be planned and executed in the best possible way.

Hannah already met Eric in Ghana in 2019, who accompanied the project with his perspective since the beginning.

Water Supply

Our Ghanaian partner association has started to build wells by drilling for groundwater!

We want to guarantee that clean water is available for the students. This is not usual in the surroundings of Hobor, either the families often have to walk very far to the next well or they drink polluted water from puddles or similar.

The well is to be operated electrically in the future. For this purpose, the school will have to be connected to the nearest power grid in the coming period.

Before the water can be used, a quality analysis will be carried out by the Water Research Institute in Accra.
